2009-2010 Child Faith Formation Year

Registration packets are now available for the 2009-2010 Faith Formation year. Please complete the packet as soon as you can. Registering early saves you money, and it also allows us to recruit enough catechists (or teachers) and purchase enough books and supplies for your children. Registering early also helps to ensure that you get your requested session. In the past, we have had to close sessions/grades toward the end of the summer because classes reached their capacity.  Please note that there are some class times that DO NOT HAVE TEACHERS.  If you register your child for that time slot and no parent comes forward to teach, that class will be cancelled.  All classes are held at the Catholic Center located 15100 Enterprise Ct., Suite, 300, Chantilly, VA.  20151.

To assist you this year in completing the registration packet, we have put together instructions that walk you through the packet. These instructions follow this letter. All of the forms needed for registration are available under the Spirituality and Faith Formation Tab under Forms.

Keep praying with your children and please keep us in your prayers as we begin planning next year’s classes. Please feel free to see us or call during the summer months if we can assist you in any way!

Dates to Remember:

• Register before June 1 and receive a $25 discount.
• May 9/10 Mother’s Day weekend – Registration forms for VBS are in the May 9th bulletin (VBS Link)
• June 20/21 Father’s Day weekend – Deadline to return VBS registrations
• July 27-31 Vacation Bible School Week
• Register after August 1 and add a $50 late fee.

TWO FAITH FORMATION PROGRAMS
Which track is best for my child?
Corpus Christi offers two faith formation tracts for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade; Blest are We, a traditional book-based program and the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori-based program. Need help deciding which program is best for your child? See the attached sheet and circle which answer best describes your child.  Then add up how many items you circled in each column.  The higher total might be a better program for your child.  There is no right or wrong answer and we think your child will succeed in both programs offered. 

SPRED PROGRAM (Special Religious Development) is a program in which persons who are developmentally disabled come together with a spiritual friend/catechist to share a one-on-one relationship and form with others a small faith community. SPRED fosters and nourishes spiritual and personal growth by helping those with developmental disabilities discover God’s action and presence in their lives. SPRED gives developmentally disabled parishioners an opportunity for celebration and worship and prepares them for the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist) and Penance. SPRED serves children ages 6-10 years.

Registered in the Parish?
We need your parish envelope number.  You don’t receive envelopes? Then somehow, your registration is not accurate with the parish. Please call Kathie at 703-378-1037 to correct the records. With our parish database system in place, it is really important that your family is registered.

Because we want to have paperless backpack mail, please provide us with an E-mail address most frequently checked by a parent.

Please answer yes or no and let us know where they attended including if it was at Corpus Christi.
Student Information
Be sure to give us your child’s full first name--the name they were given at Baptism. Fill in all student information including what grade they will be in the fall of 2009.  Be sure to check all sacraments that they have received. 
Class Choices
Under track, please put BB (Blest Are We)(link) or CGS (Catechesis of the Good Shepherd)  or SPRED (Special Religious Education Development) or Confirmation I (7th or 8th graders) or Confirmation II (8th graders who have completed Confirmation I). Under Level, CGS1 (grades K, & 1), CGS2 (grades 2-4) & CGS3, (grades 5 & 6) or Grade (K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6), which day and time slot you have chosen for a first choice and a second choice.  If there are special needs for your child, please check the box and complete the section on the back of the registration form.

Volunteer
MANY VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED. If you enjoy working with children and want to share our faith with them, then this is the job for you! Benefits are heavenly, however if you volunteer to teach or assist, your tuition payments are waived All training and materials are provided. We have many other areas to volunteer in as well. Please complete this section.

Tuition and Fees
If you register before June 1, you save $25! However, should you register after August 1; there is a $50 late registration fee. Early registration allows us to recruit enough catechists (teachers) as well as purchase enough books and supplies for your children. Donations are always appreciated!
